\nqu\u2019une gazelle, qu\u2019un lion ou toute autre b\u00eate dont on se fait suivre ?<\/em>
\nJ\u2019ai le go\u00fbt des homards, qui sont tranquilles, s\u00e9rieux,<\/em>
\nsavent les secrets de la mer, n\u2019aboient pas\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

I see de Nerval coaxing his lobster,
\non a leash of blue ribbon.
\nHe has made his case
\nfor preference of pet:
\nbecause it does not bark<\/em>
\nand knows the secrets of the sea.<\/em>
\n <\/p>\n

In this morning\u2019s market
\nthe great crustaceans twitch;
\na pair of claws squeezes the air;
\nliquid eels in slippery ranks
\nslither on stainless steel;
\na salmon sleeps in a drift of ice.
\n <\/p>\n

Those bloody aprons,
\nthat pink tump of guts
\ncoiled like a frivolous dessert,
\nenforce a preference for
\nthe Bois \u2013 poet and homard,
