Was I pushed?<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Memory <span class=\"s3\">in <\/span>the crosshairs.<br \/>\n<em>You were such a happy child<span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I think I lost her then,<br \/>\ntaking aim.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I walk a long time<br \/>\nbeside the river,<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">the path patched with ice.<br \/>\nI feel untethered,<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">dark and cold<br \/>\nas the air in space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I don&#8217;t know what to do<br \/>\nwith my hands.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;No Ducks Around in Winter&#8217; was a Commended Poem<\/em><em>\u00a0in the 2019 Newcastle Poetry Competition.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No Ducks Around in Winter My sister died today, doesn&#8217;t want a wake, anyone looking down on her.
