Until his retirement he was Head of Special Collections at the Robinson Library at Newcastle University. His final collection, <em>Great Games<\/em> (Shoestring), appeared in 2018. He translated Verlaine, Heine, Euripides and Val\u00e9ry, among many others.<\/p>\n<p>At this event, a selection of Alistair Elliot\u2019s poems were read by fellow members of the Northern Poetry Workshop, including Bill Herbert and Sean O\u2019Brien, with reminiscences of this much-loved poet.<\/p>\n<p>This <a title=\"Other content related to event\" href=\"http:\/\/archive.nclacommunity.org\/content\/?tag=event\">event<\/a> took place on <a title=\"Other content from this date\" href=\"http:\/\/archive.nclacommunity.org\/content\/?m=20191112\">12th November 2019.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An event to celebrate the work of the distinguished poet and translator Alistair Elliot (1932-2018) and mark the anniversary of his death.
