Flies<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
There\u2019s a rusted yellow rose tapping at the pane.<\/p>\n
In here a bluebottle keeps veering and droning,<\/p>\n
wanting the air to open.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I\u2019m old, I\u2019m like Roman glass,<\/p>\n
no more use, carefully kept, fragile and cloudy.<\/p>\n
Everything about me is a long time ago.<\/p>\n

There was a kitchen where I used to play. I watched<\/p>\n
houseflies riding an invisible carousel.<\/p>\n
They were happy as they were,<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
sipping the smells. Let me out<\/p>\n
to the ragged world, freed from sweepers and sprayers<\/p>\n
who come in early for those of us on our backs.<\/p>\n
