Both playful and\u00a0profound, Guo brings her trademark exploration of language\u00a0(one of the meanings of the word \u2018radical\u2019 is the graphic\u00a0component, or root, of Chinese characters) to bear on her own\u00a0life, and creates a uniquely universal text.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018When it comes to spinning light and shadow on the\u00a0complexities of living, loving and language, Xiaolu Guo is\u00a0one of the most valuable writers in the world\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0Deborah Levy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Xiaolu Guo<\/strong>\u00a0FRSL is a novelist, memoirist\u00a0and filmmaker. Her novels include\u00a0<em>A Concise\u00a0Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers<\/em>\u00a0(Penguin,\u00a02008),\u00a0<em>I Am China<\/em>\u00a0(Penguin, 2014) and\u00a0<em>A Lover\u2019s\u00a0Discourse<\/em>\u00a0(Penguin, 2020) shortlisted for the\u00a0Goldsmiths Prize 2020. Her memoir\u00a0<em>Once\u00a0Upon A Time In The East<\/em>\u00a0won the National\u00a0Book Critics Circle Award 2017 and was shortlisted for the\u00a0RSL Ondaatje Prize.
