The Final Raindrop<\/strong><\/p>\n A crowd has gathered, everyone on Earth They are waiting: They\u2019d drained the Atlantic They\u2019d melted the icecaps, They\u2019d poisoned the rivers They said there was never enough water, They are waiting for the final raindrop. A tiny globe teetering on the cloud\u2019s lip Not long now. Felicity Powell<\/a> was highly commended in the Young Adults category<\/a> of the NCLA’s Water Poetry Competition 2012<\/a>.<\/p>\n The NCLA Water Poetry Competition was judged by W.N. \nStands on the ocean bed,
\nStaring into the sky.<\/p>\n
\nIt was measured
\nThat here the final raindrop would fall.<\/p>\n
\nScoop by scoop
\nUntil nothing but sand remained;<\/p>\n
\nMountains of solid water,
\nUntil nothing but solid remained;<\/p>\n
\nUntil a chemical trickle
\nWas held in high demand;<\/p>\n
\nBut there has always been the same amount.
\nIt is us who has changed.<\/p>\n
\nFrom a waterfall, ten miles high,
\nLook up, here it comes<\/p>\n
\nSpilling out, a single tear
\nTo be divided, drank and wept by all.<\/p>\n
\nMouths open in unison,
\nWaiting for the final raindrop to fall.<\/p>\n
