An Inside Writing Poem by Roger Hare

An Inside Writing Poem

by Roger Hare

Shadow Boxing

It takes much to make a shadow – as much
in 1955 as 1155 or 2755;
soul / source / surface.
It takes much to make a shadow – release of
pain / pleasure / purpose.
It takes much to make a shadow – as much
question as solution. It takes
no time but all time to determine
whether a woman’s is diminutive to a man’s
as Governess to Governor or Mistress to Master.

It takes much to make a shadow – to silhouette
all that’s taken,
taken, taken,
to leave behind
what?
